Horse Property For Rent:
A year and a half ago my husband Tom Hallett died of a sudden heart attack
leaving me with the farm on Collins road in a bad situation. By winter I
found out that the septic had failed and then in so doing a job of trying to fix
the septic with the help of family the county put a stop work order on us.
Later I found out if I had applied for a permit myself they would not have done
so. But as it stood they wanted a professional job done and I found
out for a widow like myself there is a place that funds septics. I will
have to pay it back some day. In the process the county required a test of
the well. It turned out to be a bigger problem. Nitrate and coliform. A UV system was installed that took care of the coliform for
which I sold the farm tractor to pay for. Then the county had a couple of
options about the nitrate. At this point its been decided the only option
that will work is to hook up to City water.
A grant is being worked on to get city water a cost of about 30,000.
The farm is 360 ft from the existing line. Of course if neighbors around
me decide to get in on city water the cost will be repaid to the
grant. Neighbors should be checking their water source as its all on
the same aquifer. County isn't concerned with them. Not even that its probably a health issue.
My hands are tied on that respect.
So at this time I have no usable drinking water there. But to wash
clothes or to bathe its ok. I could temporarily rent a "water
buffalo" for livestock I suppose and drinking water can be brought
in. However its uninhabited at this time. I would like to rent it
while making these improvements. Rent might be lowered to get help with
cleanup.
It has the capacity to house up to 17 horses. (mares and foals count
as two) as it was a breeding farm. There is a newer manufactured 3 bedroom
2 bath home in very nice condition. A covered small arena for
riding. Double car garage. Fruit trees, grapes, raspberries so on. A
very nice little place with small pasture of about one acre sub divided and lots
of grass if managed right. I would like $1,000 a month after I go in to
clean it up after the last renters. Thats the story, I do not live there
currently no water and being by myself I cannot manage things like water buffalo
and livestock alone. I can be reached at 360 830 2641 or email of narrowacre@msn.com. thanks, Linda Hallett
